Stellar results with vintage tools

IMG_4379 Our friends over at Dependable Letterpress recently created this amazing perpetual calendar as a promotional piece for their fantastic print shop. With clever sayings like "what goes around comes around" and "you can achieve stellar results with vintage tools" this piece shows off the beauty of letterpress while also keeping the days of the week straight until 2036! National Stationery Show: Best of the best, part 2

IMG_5409 Continuing with our favorite items from NSS, the above card from A. Favorite really appeals to our inner design geek, while this print (below) from Old School Stationers inspires us to turn off the computer and head straight for the kitchen!

Ink and Wit cards and tea towels feature Tara's adorable animal illustrations.

Along the same theme, we are coveting these animals from Enormous Champion something fierce!

National Stationery Show: Our friends & neighbors

IMG_5455 At this years National Stationery Show, we were honored and excited to participate in a booth community with three of our favorite designers - Egg Press, Hammerpress and EIEIO. Besides the camaraderie, treats and gossip, their work was incredibly inspiring! We especially loved the bus thank you card (above), gift wrap and calender (below) from Egg Press.

IMG_5457

Fellow letterpress printers Hammerpress had some fantastic new journals, calenders and cards:

National Stationery Show!

IMG_5283 We're back from New York! The National Stationery Show was a whirlwind of new and old friends, fellow designers, bloggers and buyers from our favorite stores around the country, not to mention some incredible paper products! There was so much inspiring work from new designers and those who have been in the business for years. For our own booth, we were thrilled to introduce our new designs from Julia Rothman (above), Esther Aarts and yours truly.

IMG_5286

We re-purposed the pom poms from Eunice and Daniel's wedding - they were a big hit!

IMG_5288

We also got a chance to preview the cover of our new book, Handmade Weddings, from Chronicle Books. The book comes out this fall, and is available for pre-order here.

IMG_5292

We added some decor with pink peonies and vintage bottles from the Brooklyn Flea (and candy for buyers and booth-workers!).

sneak peek: Esther Aarts!

HL-778_F_L Esther Aarts is an amazing Dutch illustrator who has done work for t-shirts, magazines, advertising and now...greeting cards! We recently collaborated with Esther on a couple cards for our Spring release and couldn't be happier with the results. For example, who doesn't love anthropomorphic beer steins cheers-ings themselves?! Or a cheerful Oompah band wishing you a happy birthday?!

Michele Papineau calligraphy

MSWesddings_Spring2010_Cover_72dpi The stunning calligraphy gracing the cover of the current Martha Stewart Weddings was completed by Michele Papineau, one of our favorite calligraphers.

In addition to the favor crackers (above), Michele also wrote out the evenings menu on colorful chalkboards that were hung inside the tent.

Eunice & Daniel's Wedding Stationery

Eunice and Daniel's Save the DateSTDP_HIGHSEAS_COA-FUC-POO_F_L Since we're stationers, paper played a big role in designing Eunice & Daniel's wedding. The first piece of inspiration was Rob Ryan, the whimsical London-based paper artist. Eunice illustrated this letterpress save-the-date poster featuring silhouettes of her and Daniel, and their two dogs Indie and Simon, along with a save-the-date for their London reception.

Hello!Lucky Wedding Cake

We used the silhouettes again to create a DIY cake topper, with the silhouettes laser cut out of balsa wood by our pals at Publique Living, and embellished with crepe paper flowers.

Woodland Damask Wedding Invitation Suite

The wedding invitations were a variation Woodland Damask wedding invitation, created in collaboration with pattern designer Joel Dewberry inspired by his  Deer Valley collection.  The wedding invitations and save the dates were letterpress printed, while the details booklets and programs were digitally printed.

Hello!Lucky Paddle Fans

We used the pattern to create these program paddle fans, which doubled to keep guests cool during the ceremony...

Confetti pouches

...as well as these glassine confetti pouches, a tribute to the Beatle's All You Need is Love, Eunice & Daniel's exit song.
