Misty & Matt's Vintage City Hall Wedding

We will never tire of looking at San Francisco weddings. As much as we love a big beautiful celebration we have a soft spot for a simple, low key union. You can't bet the drama of San Francisco's City Hall, with its high sweeping ceilings and gorgeous architecture.

Lilia Photography took these beautiful photos of Misty and Matt's sweet San Francisco wedding at City Hall. We're digging Misty's vintage wedding dress and love that all the gentleman wore vintage style suits with brooches instead of boutinnieres, pocket squares and vintage tie-pins. Misty’s bouquet was made from flower brooches and put together by her father, which is so special.

When ever we see photos of weddings we naturally think of which of our wedding designs would match the celebration. We can't help it! For Misty and Matt's charming vintage ceremony we would chose our vintage inspired Sweetheart wedding suite in letterpress to match the drama and beauty of their big day.

Congratulations Misty and Matt! And thanks for letting us share your beautiful photos here Lilia!

Real Wedding: Lauren & Derek

This wedding had it all. Beautiful woods and a beach side ceremony. We love the couples casual approach to their wedding day. Derek and Lauren wanted a simple but beautiful wedding and these photos are proof they achieved just that!

You can't go wrong with this stunning view.

The couple chose our Seagulls Wedding Invitation which matched their Oregon beach setting perfectly.

Lauren and Derek also win best wedding song choices ever in our book. The couple's processional song was “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin and their recessional song was “Sunshine of my Life” by Stevie Wonder.

Congratulations Lauren & Derek!

Glitter Ball Centerpieces & Welcome Vanessa!

Hi! My name is Vanessa Mason, you may remember me as the Style Editor at You & Your Wedding and Cosmopolitan Bride magazines here in the UK. I left the world of weddings to have our two amazing babies, Scott and Sienna (now two and a half and eight months) and when Sabrina at Hello!Lucky asked me to be a guest blogger for their gorgeous company, I didn’t have to think twice, I jumped at the opportunity. What an honor! Well, enough about my details, let’s talk weddings! Just before Christmas, Harry Judd and his sweetheart Izzy Johnston tied the knot. As a nod to Harry’s Strictly Come Dancing win in December 2011, they tucked into a cake topped with a glitter ball trophy.

If you like the glitter ball touch, why not take the idea further and use them in vases as table centerpieces? To keep costs low, only place them on the head table in front of the bride and groom and special guests like the best man or your respective parents. The idea works nicely, as the vases are so tall, they don’t interrupt the flow of conversation over the table. They also provide great atmosphere thanks to the lights placed inside them and as the evening falls, the fairy lights reflect pretty twinkling light off the glasses, cutlery and tea lights! Whatever you decide to do for your wedding, just have fun and make it look beautiful!

Suppliers: Silver mirror balls to buy (www.dzd.co.uk), glitter balls to hire (www.eventprophire.com), vases to hire (www.weddingandeventprophire.com), fairy lights to hire (www.partylights.co.uk).

Winter Wedding Roundup

It's getting colder and the days are getting shorter, meaning we're gearing up for the winter months ahead. Snow is falling in many parts of the world creating a gorgeous white backdrop for our favorite winter weddings. There's something very romantic about a winter ceremony, whether it's the peacefulness of the seasons or that friends and family slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. We've gathered a few of our favorite Pins from Pinterest in a Winter Wedding Roundup. Getting engaged this season? Winter is a beautiful time to say "I do," so take a peek at these images for inspiration for 2013.

Creative Bug Event Photos

If you follow us on Instagram, then you know how great the turnout was at the Creative Bug Crafts, Cocktails & Cake-toppers event at Chronicle Books last week. There was a fantastic crowd of happy crafters and the handmade cake toppers were adorable. Eunice and Sabrina delivered a stellar performance, giving hands-on instructions for making these versatile decor items. We had a blast getting together with Creative Bug at Chronicle Books and want to extend a special thank you to all who were involved and all who came to enjoy the evening. Here are some of our favorite photos from the event. Don't worry if you missed it, because there is a great online workshop available at Creative Bug right here!

Real Wedding: Haley and James

This real wedding was introduced to us by our wholesale manager, Heather. She shared these images of her friends Haley and James' California wedding and we were immediately overcome with giddy wedding bliss. From all the perfect DIY details to the pure beauty of the bride and groom, this wedding is simply magical.

We must start off with the colorful photography by multi-talented Kate Miss. Her blog is a great source of inspiration so we were excited to hear she was the photographer at this wedding. Next, how about these amazing life sized tissue flowers? It sets the perfect backdrop for an already beautiful venue (Northstar in Tahoe, CA). Full instructions can be found over at Design Sponge.

One of our favorite details has to be the yarn wrapped vases that the bride and her bridesmaids made from our Handmade Weddings book. Since Haley and James' wedding day was all about color, they fit in nicely amongst the rest of the display.

Isn't this a good looking group of women? All the bridesmaids dresses are vintage. Love how the colors of the dresses coordinate with the decor!

The brides beautiful dress was custom made by San Francisco based designer Kajan Padraig. We love the delicate lace sleeves!

This is what weddings are all about. Having fun with your loved ones.

Thanks to Heather for sharing these photos and thanks to the bride and groom for representing our yarn wrapped vases! We truly love to see our projects come to life. For more photos, head over to Kate Miss' blog For Me, For You.

Parisian Wedding: Virginie and Antoine

There is a good reason why the word ‘Chic’ cannot be adequately translated into English; we simply just don’t do it as well as the French! Virgine and Antoine both live in London and wanted to take some of the elements of their life here to their May wedding in Paris, mainly in the form of a black London taxi!  We just love the way the photographer has managed to capture the mix of the formal and informal in these stunning photos of the happy couple who seem to have the whole city to themselves!

The reception was a little out of the city at the Manoir de Gressy where the more rural setting provided a beautiful contrast to the city and where Virginie chose an elegant restricted palette of cool greys and silver with just white flowers and green foliage in simple domed bunches. For their stationery they chose to have a customized version of our London Skyline, which we adapted to have the Paris skyline alongside.

We produced the table signs showing either London Tube stations or Paris Metro stops and Virginie also designed a wonderful 32 page booklet herself with graphic images of the two different cultures - The Gherkin vs. Tour Eiffel, Pimms vs. Ricard, Macaron vs. Cupcake etc.!

A customized photo booth with the somewhat Banksy-esque gun-toting Queen along with a host of props allowed the guests to create some memorable photographs of the big day.

Nous remercions Virginie et Antoine d'avoir partage ses photo avec nous. Nous tenons a leur souhaiter beaucoupde bohneur pour leur futur.

Wedding Inspiration Pin Boards

Wedding season may be coming to an end soon, but we know how important it is to plan ahead. Seasonal trends will come and go but once you've chosen your wedding invitations it's easy to create a complete look. Bring your friends or family members for a night full of fun with local craft connoisseurs. We'll see you there!

Real Wedding: Lauren and Nick

This real wedding really represents the color pink at its best. With subtle hues of rose and blossom it was all pulled together wonderfully. Lauren and Nick wed at the Healdsburg Country Gardens on a sunny day last September and it could possibly be the sweetest wine country wedding we've seen. We love that the couple chose to use traditional elements in a natural and rustic environment. And the stunning floral bouquets by Blue Orchid Floral really topped it off. You can see more photos of this lovely vineyard wedding over on Wedding Chicks!

Our Vintage Lace wedding invitation complimented the couples' vintage feminine theme. The pop of color in the blossom envelope added a little fun to the mix, too.

Congratulations Lauren and Nick! To view more photos, head over to Wedding Chicks by clicking here!

DIY Gold Confetti Champagne Flutes

Are you preparing a toast this season? Planning a special announcement? These DIY gold confetti champagne flutes are a fabulous way to liven up your glassware, especially for a special event. Or, if you're looking for unique gift ideas they would make a dazzling addition to any china cabinet. We found the inspiration for this DIY over at Radical Possibility. The writer, Zandi, has tons of easy and inexpensive projects, and many are Anthropologie replications, or in her words, "knockoffs." Zandi sure fooled us because her Confetti Tumblers are fantastic!

You can find inexpensive champagne flutes at your local thrift store, or buy new at any department store. Spice them up with customized colors for your wedding and the bridal party will be toasting in style. We love the classic elegance of gold, but a fun neon pink wouldn't bee too shabby either!

Materials: Glass champagne flutes, Gold enamel paint, small brush

How To: Step 1. Wash your glasses very well and dry completely

Step 2. Dip your brush in a bit of gold paint. Starting at the base of the cup, dab the paint on to the glass. We set ours upside down for easy painting.

Step 3. As you fill the bottom part, begin to spread out your dots more and more as you reach about half way.

Step 4. Once the glasses are dry, you can bake them to seal the paint. Read the instructions on your paint bottle in advance. Ours baked for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Tip* be very careful when hand washing. Use cold water and air dry.

Mendocino Boho Wedding Shoot

Did you see this charming boho wedding shoot on Green Wedding Shoes? It was styled by Karin Kamb of Clever Girl Consulting and photographed by none other than Edyta Szyszlo. The sultry green backdrop of the Mendocino Farmhouse paired with the neutral organic elements of the clothing and decor made for a comfortable and romantic setting. The models are local folk singers, too, which made their connection seem so perfect.

Eunice designed a brand new wedding suite for the shoot, appropriately titled Bluegrass. It's still in the works but will be available on our website soon!

DIY Patterned Papers: Drink Flags

Your guests will certainly see your details come together if you match your papers with your wedding invitations or table numbers. Watch the video or see below for full instructions!

DIY Drink Flags from Hello!Lucky on Vimeo.

DIY Drink Flag Template, Printer, 1 sheet cardstock, 8.5 x 11” (US) or A4 (UK), Ruler, Bone folder, or a butter knife, Cutting mat, or a magazine, Craft knife, Pencil, Patterned paper, Glue stick, Skewer sticks

How To:

Step 1. Print out the template. Print this template on card stock. Make sure your printer is set to 100% (or, “no scaling”) to ensure that the template prints to scale. Step 2. Cut out the template. Using a ruler, craft knife, and cutting mat, cut out the drink flag template. Step 3. Trace the template. With a pencil, trace the drink flag templates onto each sheet of pattern paper. Step 4. Real Wedding: Sarah and Christian

In celebration of the upcoming holiday, this wedding couldn't fit anymore perfectly. Last year over the fourth of July weekend Sarah and Christian tied the knot at the Healdsburg Country Gardens on what seemed to be the most lovely California day. The rustic ceremony tied in pieces of red, white, and blue, giving a nod to the summer holiday while still keeping it simple and unique. There's something about their big day that's got us dreaming of some summer lovin'.

The couple customized parts of our Heartland and Mi Amor designs to create menus and wedding programs that matched their decor.

We're loving the lively red/white striped ribbon to hold the place cards. You really can't go wrong with wooden clothespins for a rustic wedding!

Even the groom got down with the theme and rocked these blue/white striped socks. Nice touch!
