DIY Dino Tee
Sabrina's twins James and Alex wanted matching dinosaur tees based off their favorite Byron Barton book Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs, so she drew a few up! All you need is a blank tee, a sharpie, and your kids favorite illustration! Quick tips to avoid fading after wash: Soak overnight in a quart of cool water with a cup of white vinegar. Always turn the tee inside out before washing.

Wild & Free: Vintage Map Envelope Liners
As summer comes to a close, we can't help but reflect on all the adventures that have filled our days for the past few months. In that spirit of adventure, we decided to put some old maps to good use and make envelope liners. Liners are a great way to utilize old magazine pages, scraps of gift wrap or calendars that have served their time.

Local Love: Tender Loving Empire
In May, we partnered with our friends at Egg Press and moved our printing operations to their studio in Portland, Oregon. Since we now have a Hello!Lucky team up north in addition to our design studio in San Francisco, we thought it was only logical to extend our Local Love series and showcase some of the fantastic shops in Portland! We're starting with Tender Loving Empire, which was founded in 2006 by Portland-based artists and musicians Jared and Brianne Mees. It began as a record label and print shop and a year later expanded to include a consignment retail shop focused on locally produced items. The walls of the shop are covered in illustrations, and a mural above the front door reads "You are part of this place", which captures the spirit of the store and its dedication to community.
Its current location on Southwest 10th and Stark houses a full screen print shop and the Tender Loving Empire offices as well as the retail store front. The store sells exclusively handmade items and strives to represent Pacific Northwest artists. We're proud to see a few of our own on the shelf alongside cards made by so many talented local artists!
The screen printing studio produces T-shirts and prints, album packaging for the TLE label's artists as well as commissions for local businesses.

Stuff We Love: Crane & Canopy
Lately we've been obsessing over the beautiful bedding and pretty home goods from Crane & Canopy. Besides coveting their lovely products we're also big fans of their story. Like so many great founders Karin Sheih created Crane & Canopy when she was looking for something she couldn't find. Shortly after purchasing her first house she was so excited to start decorating but quickly got frustrated when she couldn’t find exactly what she was looking for without breaking the bank. So she did what most sensible people do when they can't find what they need, she started a company that produces exactly what she was looking for -- high quality, innovative bedding and home goods, all available at a great price.
How pretty are these designs? We also love that many of their collections are named after San Francisco neighborhoods. Below is the Ashbury Pink, great name and great color palette.
We're smitten with their new collection called Floral Belles, which allows you to mix and match with detachable flowers-- perfect for people who get bored quickly with their bedding, and a really fun way to freshen up bedroom decor.

Local Love: Little Paper Planes & Owl Cave
For this installment of our Local Love series we headed to Valencia street and visited one of our favorite new stores, Little Paper Planes + Owl Cave books. Little Paper Planes opened earlier this year in May and it's such a great addition to the bustling Mission neighborhood.
Little Paper Planes is owned and operated by Kelly Lynn Jones, who ran LPP as an online shop for years before launching this brick and mortar version of her store. Kelly is joined by Viniita Moran who brought her online bookstore Owl Cave Books into the shop. Owl Cave Books has a wonderfully curated selection of hard to find art books and magazines.
One of our favorite things about the shop is the space, which was transformed with fixtures and hand built pieces created by Kate Pruitt.
The shop also has a print gallery which features a new artist every month and a residency program which can be found in the back of the store. The residency program offers space to artists, makers and curators.
If you're visiting the bay area or if you're a local who hasn't been to LPP + Owl Cave Books yet definitely make a trip there. They have such a great selection of goods and they're so well curated and displayed, you'll definitely leave feeling inspired and hopefully with something fun you didn't have before.

Refinery29 Siblings Feature
Last week Refinery29 came by our new studio and took some photos of Eunice and Sabrina for a feature on San Francisco siblings. They were thrilled to be included along side some of the city's coolest siblings. The piece includes a pretty fun q&a with Eunice and Sabrina about each other -- including Eunice's favorite memory of the two of them growing up. Summer in France...
We're just back from a super amazing vacation in France - one week at this gorgeous little beach house in the town of Montalivet on the Atlantic coast, where Jude and his friend Hugo spent the week playing in the sand and sun and generally getting up to tons of hilarious 3 year old shenanigans. There is nothing more relaxing on a family vacation than kids that are happily occupied!
At Plage du Pin Sec - endless miles of beach, shells to poke, surfers to watch...
Much time was spent doing absolutely nothing...
Or doing really important stuff like coaxing snails out of their shells...
We took the ferry to Royan to visit the Zoo de la Palmyre (completely amazing - the animals are close enough to touch in many cases - quite a different experience from the average American zoo), reading books before long afternoon naps, our bedroom window at the beach house (above which were roosting a family of doves - there's nothing quite like a late afternoon nap with the breeze in the curtains and the sounds cooing doves in the background)...
A brief pause in Bordeaux on our way to catch the train the Paris...the fountain at Place des Quinconces...
Oh how I LOVE Paris - every time we go, it just blows me away all over again.
The night before we got on the train to France, I told Jude (grooming him to be on my side for future campaigns for more French vacations) that we were going to spend a whole week eating gateaux, glace, fromage and croissants - he couldn't sleep he was so excited - and we did. Macarons galore, chocolate every day! Vacation rules dictate that is is perfectly okay to have éclairs for lunch - who can resist a display like this after all?
Visited the Dynamo exhibit at Le Grand Palais - a pretty fabulous exhibit of notions of space, vision and light run through the abstract art of the 20th century which involved a lot fun of kinetic, op and light-based art which was a big hit with the toddler set. Here Jude enjoys a pretty remarkable installation piece that blurs the line between two and three dimensions.
Other highlights included the Galerie d'evolution in le Jardin des Plantes - literally like stepping into a cabinet of curiosities, hitting le Marais for the annual sales (held twice a year in January and July), le Musée de la chasse et de la nature (one of my all time favorite museums in the world), the carousel at Jardin du Luxembourg, and taking the Batobus down the Seine to get home one afternoon (touristy stigma aside, it was turned out to be a great way to get home after slogging all over Paris in the sun and Jude loved the boat ride.)
This adorable map from Herb Lester - Paris en Famille - a little guide to kid friendly places to check out in Paris, came in handy and had some great suggestions.

National Stationery Show here we come!
We’re packing our bags and getting ready to head to New York once again for the National Stationery Show. We’re super excited to catch up with old friends, favorite designers, customers, editors, and everyone else we’ll see in NY. This new release is one of our biggest yet and we can't wait to unveil it to the world. Fingers crossed everyone else will like it as much as we do! We’ll be sure to take lots of photos and share all the goodness we see at NSS with you here on the blog.

We're Moving!
We have some big news! In May we're moving our letterpress studio to Portland, Oregon. Everything you know and love about Hello!Lucky will remain the same, but starting this summer all of the printing, production, and distribution of our letterpress cards will be overseen by one of our favorite letterpress card companies, Egg Press. All of our products, including our wedding invitations, greeting cards, and personal stationery, will still be available on the Hello!Lucky website where you can order and customize as you've always been able to.
We'll still be regularly adding new product to our site, posting things we love here on our blog, and updating you with what we're up to through social media. And, soon you'll be able to purchase Egg Press custom products on our site, too! Eunice and Sabrina will continue to design new cards and invitations, brainstorm new products, and manage Hello!Lucky from our new design studio in San Francisco's Haight Ashbury neighborhood.
One of our printers, Jon, will be moving to Portland to continue to print our cards out of the Egg Press studio, and this past weekend he drove most of our stock up there.
We're thrilled to release fifty new cards for one of our biggest releases yet this May. And we'll be at the National Stationery Show debuting our new line. If you'll be there come visit us and say hello at booth #1759!

Real Wedding: Elizabeth and Kristof
There's nothing we love more than seeing our designs for brides on display and put to use at their weddings. We spend so much time at our computers working hard to get every design and detail just right, it's so rewarding to see how they look on the big day!
Elizabeth and Kristof were married in Carmel, overlooking the mountains. We're all about natural backdrops for weddings and this one is perfection.
Here's some of the signage we worked on for the lovely couple. We're excited to say that this design is now available on our site, we aptly named it Mountain Skyline. Like all of our skyline designs, this one is available in both letterpress and flat printing.

Booths We've Loved at the NSS
This week we were featured on the National Stationery Show's industry blog. We shared what we thought made a show-stopping booth and gave some examples of booths we've loved at shows past.
We're all about keeping booth designs clean and simple and think a little can go a long way. This year we'll be going with white walls and some big and bold neon decals taken from some of our favorite new card designs.
We love these booths from previous shows; at top Hannah Berman of Pie Bird Press looking adorable in her simple booth with colorful bunting, next Snow & Graham's stunning wall of paper flowers at the 2012 show, and finally, a wonderfully rustic booth from Grey Cardigan at last years show, we could live in this well designed booth!
