Love from London

london1

Christmas came early to the San Francisco office! A large package arrived at our studio the other day, and who could it be from? None other than our friends Iain and Hamad over in London! We were squealing like kids when we found bunches of simple brown wrapped presents, each attached with a handwritten song lyric.

Hmm, what could it be?

Sabrina's Adorable Accordion

DSC_0047

Now would be an appropriate time for an "Awweee" moment! Sabrina's holiday cards just arrived off the press and they are cute as can be. Her twins Alex and James are getting so big, and we can really see the resemblances! We especially love how the boys' stripes match perfectly with the winter and spring illustrations in Susy Jack's Four Seasons accordion card.  The best part is that there's no pressure to send them before Christmas because this card is perfect for any time of year!

Alex and James definitely make our list of Holiday Cuties this year!

Orders, Orders, Orders!

orders

We're seeing tons of holiday orders printed and shipped from the H!L studio this week! It's definitely a peak time to order holiday cards, but there's still time to personalize your own. One of our most popular designs this year is the Greetings from San Francisco photo card. We think the kelly green and red color combination is especially festive!

Chicago Skyline is here!

photo-9

Drum roll please......Introducing, the newest member of the Skyline collection, Chicago! We know all you mid-westerners have been waiting patiently for the Chicago Skyline invitation suite to arrive, and the time has finally come! The invitation, reply card, and details card have carefully selected images of Chicago's finest monuments, buildings, and railways. We are so proud to welcome the windy city to the H!L family!

We're still working on getting the invitation up on our site, so if you're interested in Chicago Skyline just give us a call and we'll tell you how to order!

Studio Snapshot: Personalized Stationery

IMG_0649

One of the many perks of working in a letterpress studio is the access to the presses (and quality printers!). Kristine and Christina both fell in love with the same personal stationery design, but put their own unique twist on the concept. Christina's version (above) features a "from the desk of" line along with a feather motif, while Kristine (below) favored a more simple approach.

Both designs were hand-printed on our 1950's Vandercook press.

Now get to those handwritten notes girls!

Studio Snapshot: Charming wedding decor

IMG_4247

Whether charming, rustic, romantic, or sweet, the brilliance involved with this wedding for our overseas friends, Lisa and Rory is really something! We're currently putting together their day-of wedding materials - it's really coming together!

These vintage style pub signs are getting cut out and used as table numbers!

Say cheese! These tiny cheese signs will be dashing on display.

Each guest will have a program paddle fan to keep them cool! These are really turning out to be one of our signature products!

Studio Snapshot: Assembling Day-of Wedding Materials

DSC_0987

It's summertime! For us, that means we're busy producing materials to be used at summer weddings, including programs, place cards, and table top decorations. We love to see how an invitation design can be translated to day-of wedding decor, especially when customized to match the wedding colors. Our Architecture invitation looks striking as a table number (above) and a welcome drink sign (below).

DSC_0991

These tented signs work great as double-sided menus - one side for hors-d'oeuvres and and the other for cocktails!

DSC_0988

We like to use a bone folder to fold each place card, guaranteeing an even score. Its all in the details, after all!

Studio Snapshot: Happy Birthday Lia!

Happy birthday to Lia, happy birthday to yooouuu! The Hello!Lucky staff has quite the lineup of summer birthdays. It seems as though every week we've gathered sweet treats and savory snacks back in our break area to celebrate. Last Friday's festivities were dedicated to Lia, one of our dearest sales consultants. Lia, the head of the sales team, has been with us since 2009. We love her sparkling charm and unwavering expertise. And check out the spread! French cheeses, fresh fruit, homemade Spanish tapas (we may have to start celebrating half-birthdays, too!)

Studio Snapshot: New Visit Series Letterpress Invitations!

DSC_0517

We've always loved our Visit Series created with Lab Partners so we just about fainted when we saw these babies on press today.  Watch out LA - we've got stunning 3-color letterpress Visit Los Angeles save the dates and wedding invites ready to make an impression (pun very much intended)!

DSC_0520

This shot gets up close and personal showing an inked plate moments before it presses into the paper.

DSC_0521

Two colors printed, and one more to go!

DSC_0525

Each new color requires that the machine be cleaned, re-inked and fitted with a new plate.  Here invites-in-progress wait patiently to be pressed into wedding perfection.

Can you guess which designs these will turn out to be?  Okay we'll spill, its Visit Texas and Visit Chicago!

DSC_0532

Adding the second color to Visit Chicago brings out details in the train and fountain.

DSC_0539

We can't wait to see what new details will come out when the third color is added!

Studio Snapshot, at work and home! Eunice and Sabrina in Anthology

Eunice and Sabrina are featured in the latest issue of Anthology, and we had to share a little taste!

anthology_1

The article shares a snippet of how the sisters' distinct personalities and tastes have molded their work and living spaces.

anthology_2

Did you notice the Joel Dewberry-designed backdrop from Eunice and Daniel's wedding? That's part of our Woodland Damask wedding invitation design— how great that she's re-purposed it as a bohemian-style faux window in her living room. Love it!

anthology_3

Sabrina's style is more graphic modern, and a lovely contrast.

There's so much more to read and see at the Anthology site.

Enjoy!

Studio Snapshot: Paris je t'aime!

IMG_5220

Its no secret how much we love the Alameda Flea Market, but when we saw the photos of Les Puces from Lia's recent trip to Paris - we were très jaloux indeed! An endless maze of vintage clothes, books, housewares and enough retro packaging and ephemera to make your head spin!

There were even a few pieces that looked like they could have held court at Versailles. Move over Marie Antoinette, we may need to borrow your fainting couch.  Swoon!

Studio Snapshot: Puppy love

DSC_0185

We love when sweet Charlie dog comes to visit us in the studio, who can resist those come-pet-me eyes?  He proved to be such a hard worker we decided to make Mr. Charlie an honorary employee.

DSC_0199

Charlie's job at Hello!Lucky is T-Rex impersonator and prowler growler. His favorite part of his job is sniffing around the lunchroom. When he was a puppy, he wanted to herd cows when he grew up. Now, he just wants to lay in sunny spots and eat snacks. His best quality is his ability to sit + stay, which shines through most of the time, except when there are more interesting things to inspect. He's happiest when he has all the attention, and would love to spend the rest of his life having his belly rubbed.

Studio Snapshot: Hot Off the Press!

Studio Snapshot: The Collection + A Roadtrip

DSC_0099

We're thrilled to be teaming up with The Collection Event Studio a gorgeous design studio, retail shop and meeting space in downtown Sonoma.  Always up for a mini road trip, we jumped into the car, iced coffee in-hand and took off for wine country!

DSC_0106

The girls at The Collection have curated a wonderful assortment of products and vendors and showcase them so beautifully in their space.  Its like a one-stop shop for planning the most perfect rustic chic wedding!

We couldn't leave Sonoma without a quick peek into the Church Mouse Thrift Shop where we gazed with envy upon shelf after shelf of vintage china and stemware.  Lillian found a perfect silver cocktail shaker!

How great is the pattern on these cups and saucers?  Inspiration is everywhere!

Studio Snapshot: Trunk Show + Bridal Tour

DSC_0084

What a busy weekend we've had!  On Saturday Hello!Lucky played host to two of Portland's finest clothing designers - Duchess, a company that crafts retro inspired bespoke suits (grooms, take note!) and Elizabeth Dye who seemed to float into our space with clouds of vintage silk and lace - her wedding dresses are to die for! Then on Sunday we opened our doors to the Dream A Little Dream bridal tour and met a fabulous group of new brides-to-be!

Studio Snapshot: Rain, Rain, Rain!

DSC_0126

San Francisco has been drenched in buckets of rain this past week and our cool exposed beam warehouse-style roof has sprung a leak!  Secretly we liked the romantic "ping-ping" of water catching in this tin pail, but a company that specializes in paper certainly needs a more long term solution.  Enter James, our intrepid press-man and sailor extraordinaire (note the yellow rain pants) who with Stewey's bucket-lifting assistance, is brave enough to climb up on the roof and fix the leak!

DSC_0104

Ahoy there!

DSC_0109

The rest of stayed cozy and dry under the roof and chose instead to snack on soul-warming Pho and grilled pork sandwiches from Tin, the ridiculously delicious Vietnamese restaurant that just so happens to be our neighbor.  Love them so much!
