Tombées du Camion

Box of Bits We here at Hello!Lucky are hopeless addicts of fabulous vintage finds (our studio is a mad collection of bits and bobs picked up at the flea) and so we were delighted to come across Tombées du Camion (translated, it means, appropriately and hilariously, Things Fallen Off the Truck) on the Constant Gatherer...

Tombees du Camion

This fabulous little shop  is located in Paris (17 rue Joseph de Maistre, should one be so lucky as to be traipsing about Paris!)...

Bits

The shop is a collection of vintage bits and bobs, and many items are to be had in large quantities (fantastic for party favors, crafty endeavors etc.)

Smiley Guys

An online shop is supposedly forthcoming but in the interim, if something particularly strikes your fancy, such as these hilarious smiley guys, you can order via email.

Of course, the Alameda Flea (obsessed with it!)

Tail of the Yak in Berkeley

Castle in the Air

Paper Valise

Etsy, of course, including Buttermilk Sky and SnapCrafty

Felt mailing envelopes

How adorable are these felt mailing envelopes by Keiko of Small Adventure? We love how you can use them as gift wrap – they even come with "to" and "from" labels that are tucked into plastic sleeves on the front. With extra labels included, it's the gift that keeps on giving! Genius! 1.jpg

They are available for purchase at her etsy shop, along with other charming creations!

Moody Birds

Kristian Vedel Bird On a recent trip to Copenhagen, these wooden birds (aptly named "Bird") designed by architect and furniture designer Kristian Vedel quickly became an obsession even though we've seen them before.  It is pretty remarkable for any one thing to consistently stand out among all the wonderfully inspiring Danish furniture, crafts, architecture...not to mention the remarkably attractive inhabitants of this lovely city.  In adorable shop after adorable shop, their removable heads beckoned us until, at last, we succumbed to the temptation and picked up a few.

Kristian Vedel Bird

Designed and produced in the 50s to great success, the birds have recently been reintroduced in all 3 sizes - parent, grandparent and child (awww) and 2 finishes.  You can tilt the head any which way you please (a nice way to express your ever-changing mood) and can flip the body to be either male or female.  A great addition to any mantle, bookshelf, child's room, place setting....the possibilities are endless!

Kristian Vedel Bird

Wouldn't this type of circle arrangement be adorable as a centerpiece?   They are readily available for purchase online in the US here among other places.  Learn more about Bird and see more photos here.

Paul Thurlby's Alphabet Shop

Groovin' on Alexander Girard

Alphabet Blocks A recent fixation on this super cool set of alphabet blocks originally designed for the San Francisco MOMA has lead to a mini-obsession with Alexander Girard, famed designer for Herman Miller and collaborator of Charles and Ray Eames (and, of course, muse to our most favorite boy wonder, Jonathan Adler)...

Blocks - Sun

Neuhart Dolls

We love these hand-made dolls, designed exclusively for House Industries by Marilyn Neuhart.  They are based on dolls she sewed for the opening of Girard's Textiles & Objects Shop in New York City in 1961.  How hilarious is that lion?  We adore the folk art inspired motifs...

Neuhart Dolls

Memory Game

A 72-piece wood memory game, full of delightful illustrations...

Nativity Figurines

Alexander Girard amassed a huge collection of nativities, most of which he spent the last years of his life curating for his wing at the International Museum of Folk Art in Santa Fe (which is absolutely amazing!). This set is based on an original Girard illustration that hangs in his son's house.

Fonts!

House Industries also has a series of great Girard fonts (Girard inspired wedding invitations or birth announcements perhaps?!).

Flor Carpet - Animals

Flor Carpet - Sun

His work is available in all sorts of places - including these stylie carpet tiles from Flor..

Daisy head

girard pillows

Figurines

These pillows, figurines and other items are available through maXimo — the company that distributes and manages licenses for the work of Alexander Girard.

Registry: Heath Ceramics

picture-1.png One of the many wonderful things about being in the Bay Area is the proximity to Heath Ceramics. We love their simple designs, stunning color and dependable quality. If you're not lucky enough to visit their Sausalito Factory store, or Los Angeles boutique, everything is available online. DIY 2nd Anniversary gift

img_1937.jpg We are swooning over the adorable anniversary gift that H!L designer Shauna made for her husband for their 2nd anniversary. Traditionally, cotton is the suggested gift (ok, so this is wool, but it's still in the fiber family!) so she knit up a tiny heart using this pattern, then embroidered her and her husband's initials on the front and their 2nd anniversary date on the back. So cute!

Real wedding: Hollin + Eric

We are loving Hollin and Eric's beautiful wedding, full of sweet details and DIY elements. Hollin, along with some helpful friends and family, created most of the decorations, and it all turned out so vintage chic! 001.jpg

Thanks to the very talented Ben Blood for sharing his gorgeous photos of their wedding at Treehouse Point in Issaquah, Washington. Tree-filled and moss-covered, Treehouse Point offers two incredible treehouses for lodging by master treehouse builder Pete Nelson who, along with his wife Judy, host private events and overnight retreats. So natural and ethereal!

The groomsmen donned tweed and wore handmade mismatching boutineers and ties.

013.jpg

Hollin's vintage inspired dress was made by Portland designer Holly Stalder, who even gave Hollin extra fabric for her to make the flower on her veil! So lovely.

005.jpg

Hollin and her bridesmaids made their own headpieces...just gorgeous!

006.jpg

007.jpg

The bride's sister and maid of honor Keiko, hand drew and screen printed coffee and tea bags as favors for the guests.

008.jpg

Hollin's mom made each of the bridesmaid's dresses. We love the fabric and individual sash detailing.

Brand new Kate Spade!

kate0.jpg Everyone's talking about it, but we simply can't help but join in the collective swooning over the new Kate Spade collection! While the clothes are stunning on their own, we just love the bold use of color and retro styling captured in these photos.

Take a look at the whole collection here!
