How adorable are these illustrated programs from Joanna Goddard's wedding? The artwork was done by the talented Anna Bond, and features a quote from one of our favorite books, The History of Love by Nicole Krauss.
The Work of Mary Blair
What a legend Mary Blair is! Best known for her work with Disney, her style prevails through such character designs found in the Disneyland attraction It's A Small World, as well as countless children's books and animated classics.
Her illustrations are so inspiring whenever we're in need of a little eye candy!
Paul Thurlby's Alphabet Shop
We came across London-based illustrator Paul Thurlby's alphabet prints on Ohdeedoh and were totally smitten by the hilarious illustrations...
Thurlby has a whole alphabet done in super cool retro kitsch style - love the vintagey beat up treatment!
Thurlby is offering his 12" x 19" alphabet giclee prints in limited editions of 200 prints of each design.
You can find his prints for sale at his Alphabet Shop.
Pretty Pictures
Silk-screened concert posters are a truly fabulous and inexpensive décor option and Poster Cabaret has a great selection from some of our favorite artists and designers for some of our favorite bands.
They also have some great prints by artists such as Bianca Gomez...
Love this bull with his wooden features and curtain-bangs...
The Decemberists can always be counted on to have gorgeous posters...
We love all the different, totally cool design aesthetics...so inspiring! (not to mention that these gorgeous hand-silkscreened posters will only set you back $20-$30!) Love, love, love them!
Groovin' on Alexander Girard
A recent fixation on this super cool set of alphabet blocks originally designed for the San Francisco MOMA has lead to a mini-obsession with Alexander Girard, famed designer for Herman Miller and collaborator of Charles and Ray Eames (and, of course, muse to our most favorite boy wonder, Jonathan Adler)...
We love these hand-made dolls, designed exclusively for House Industries by Marilyn Neuhart. They are based on dolls she sewed for the opening of Girard's Textiles & Objects Shop in New York City in 1961. How hilarious is that lion? We adore the folk art inspired motifs...
A 72-piece wood memory game, full of delightful illustrations...
Alexander Girard amassed a huge collection of nativities, most of which he spent the last years of his life curating for his wing at the International Museum of Folk Art in Santa Fe (which is absolutely amazing!). This set is based on an original Girard illustration that hangs in his son's house.
House Industries also has a series of great Girard fonts (Girard inspired wedding invitations or birth announcements perhaps?!).
His work is available in all sorts of places - including these stylie carpet tiles from Flor..
These pillows, figurines and other items are available through maXimo — the company that distributes and manages licenses for the work of Alexander Girard.
Kevin Waldron's Fantabulous Illustrations
We just came across Kevin Waldron's absolutely wonderful illustrations via the equally wonderful blog Stickers and Stuff.
How fantastic is this lion with his snazzy pipe, turtleneck and hair nerdily combed to the side? Hilarious!
Sketch of a character named Mr. Peek...
We love the loose and charming style...
This adorable Owl & the Pussycat is genius. We are pea green with envy!
Real wedding: Hollin + Eric
We are loving Hollin and Eric's beautiful wedding, full of sweet details and DIY elements. Hollin, along with some helpful friends and family, created most of the decorations, and it all turned out so vintage chic!
Thanks to the very talented Ben Blood for sharing his gorgeous photos of their wedding at Treehouse Point in Issaquah, Washington. Tree-filled and moss-covered, Treehouse Point offers two incredible treehouses for lodging by master treehouse builder Pete Nelson who, along with his wife Judy, host private events and overnight retreats. So natural and ethereal!
The groomsmen donned tweed and wore handmade mismatching boutineers and ties.
Hollin's vintage inspired dress was made by Portland designer Holly Stalder, who even gave Hollin extra fabric for her to make the flower on her veil! So lovely.
Hollin and her bridesmaids made their own headpieces...just gorgeous!
The bride's sister and maid of honor Keiko, hand drew and screen printed coffee and tea bags as favors for the guests.
Hollin's mom made each of the bridesmaid's dresses. We love the fabric and individual sash detailing.
Hello!Lucky designer Anna created whimsical invitations complete with illustrations of the bride and groom dancing under the trees.
What a talented group of people! Congratulations, Hollin and Eric!
Dyna Moe
Thanks to Bethany for cluing us in to Dyna Moe, the amazing illustrator behind the Mad Men Yourself application we blogged about last week! She's done a ton of illustration work for Mad Men, including this incredible Joan Holloway paper doll for Season 2!
And, what's more, she does custom illustrations of couples for their save the dates and wedding invitations!
Cute, right?
Love this "Tiki Time" portrait - and the idea of doing portraits with a vintage flare a la Mad Men Yourself!
Check out all her work here and her Flickr photo stream here and read her blog here. Thanks, Bethany!

Kay Nielsen and a lovely faery wedding
Growing up, we LOVED the sumptuous fairytale illustrations of early 20th century Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen.
Aren't these gorgeous? They've big source of design inspiration to us of late! So we totally thought of him when we saw these amazing faery wedding photographs by Elizabeth Messina via her blog, Kiss the Groom:
So amazing! See more of Elizabeth's unbelievable photos here. See more of Kay Nielsens gorgeous illustrations here.
Mysterio by Wry Baby
We're just loving these hilarious Mysterio baby T's from Wry Baby. The packaging is genius (via Lovely Package). Each one comes in a muslin bag and predicts your child's future, which you don't find out until you open the package. Options include: Donut Tycoon, Romance Novelist, Game Show Host, and Hog Calling Champion.
And while you're at it, check out their Super Snapsuits - comes with a cape! Available here.
Limited Edition Prints Featured on D*S
It was so exciting to see our new limited edition Woodland prints featured on Design*Sponge! We worked with some of our favorite artists, including Julia Rothman, Kate Sutton and Lab Partners, to create their own interpretations of the "Woodland" theme, and couldn't be more excited by the results! We even created one ourselves (above). Each print is 12" x 18" and is available for purchase here. Each one is printed in a limited quantity of 250, so when they are gone, they're gone!
National Stationery Show
As always, there was a lot to take in at the National Stationery Show! It was hard to pry ourselves away from our booth, but we did manage to nip out to see what's new with some of our favorite designers. One of our favorite new products is this genius LCD card by Yellow Owl Workshop.
Also love this lucky horseshoe calendar from Hammerpress.
New gift wrap from EIEIO.
New cards featuring stitched scrap materials from Pikku.
Pretty fabric-covered magnets and tacks from Girl of All Work (these would be great for hanging wedding seating cards!)
Simple, elegantly packaged boxes of quotes from Spilt Milk and Cookies -- a great favor idea for showers. The lovely owners happen to be the parents of Jon Retsky, co-founder of the Bay Area's leading special events lighting design firm, Got Light?, and a friend of H!L (small world!).
Fantastic graphic cards from Fugu Fugu Press.
Prints of the designs from Binth's amazing Joker playing card series, along with stunning new card designs.
One of our favorite new cards, by H!L designer Shauna Leytus - dancing dreidels! Yea!
Another great show, and always inspiring!
Alice and Martin Provensen
We've been recently obsessed with amazing husband and wife illustration team, Alice and Martin Provensen (found on Black•Eiffel and Book by it's Cover):
Love the vintage style (they worked for the Walter Lantz Studio - of Woody Woodpecker fame, illustrated several Little Golden Books, and did work for Disney, back in the day, when they were creating genius films like Alice in Wonderland (worked on by the equally brilliant Mary Blair, but that's another post!)
So cute and hilarious...
Love the color palettes too!
This chart of different types of eggs - so ridiculous!
Wouldn't this illustration make an amazing children's birthday invitation? So fabulous....
Blanca Gomèz
We came across Blanca Gomèz, a designer and illustrator working in Madrid, on Rifle and Oh Joy and we just love her graphic and minimalist style - so sweet and with a touch of a retro vibe. The words "cute!!" and "genius!!" (inclusive of double exclamation points) are bandied about our office a lot (perhaps a bit *too* much!) but we think they definitely apply in this case!
Love this series...
You can see more her work here and you can buy prints, buttons and other bits and bobs at her Etsy shop and at Velocity.
Anna Bond
We love Anna Bond's illustrations - she's the owner of Rifle Design and has a fabulous blog. We adore (covet, are wildly envious of, etc.) her whimsical and naive style...
This was an illustration done for her wedding invitation - you can see details from her amazing wedding on Brooklyn Bride...
Chamo!
We are so enamored of French illustrator Chamo's adorable and sassy illustrations.
Vintage flavor and anything nautical is always a favorite - we love her take on the tattooed french sailor.
How fantastic is this blue tiger? Love the Indian inspired aesthetic and the genius subtle off registration, so typical of the print quality - it adds a hilarious authenticity to the illustration.
We might actually eat more fruits and veggies if they came in this chipper packaging!
Ah Zombie Love...
This monkey really knows how to cut a rug...and his hip-shakin' dance partner with her cleverly positioned maracas - we can hear the steel drums!
Brilliant, brilliant...
