Julia Rothman in San Francisco

We originally met Julia Rothman at the National Stationery Show last year, and have been huge fans of her work ever since. Her first San Francisco show opened last week at Rare Device. The theme of the show is Home, and Julia's pieces illustrate that it's not the space itself, but the items in the space that make one feel at home. For those of us who move a lot, it's easy to relate. Some of my favorite pieces were the pile of chairs and the polka dot bikini. Julia also made incredibly detailed three dimensional houses for the front window display. If you are in the Bay Area, I recommend checking out the show - it's really inspiring. Rare Device is also a fantastic store with one of the best curated selections in San Francisco (they carry our cards too!). The show is open until August 1st.

Julia also stopped by our studio with Jenny and Matt, her partners from Also, to see where her cards were made. Julia, Jenny and Matt - thanks for stopping by!

Borough Market

Shortbread Owls Hands down, the best part of our neighborhood in London is Borough Market, London's mecca for organic and gourmet foods and produce. We stopped by there for lunch today and had some gorgeous cheese sandwiches and hand-dripped coffee from Monmouth Coffee Company.

The market is also a feast for the eyes. We especially loved the shortbread owls from The Cinnamon Tree Bakery and these simple wooden spoons from Monmouth Coffee. The market is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and is just across Borough High Street from the London Bridge tube station.

Room

Room Storefront Last week, we made the thrilling discovery of Room, a brand new vintage store on Valencia Street, one of our favorite shopping streets in the San Francisco.

RoomRoom Vintage Chair

It is chock full of fabulous vintage furniture and ephemera, and we found ourselves jauntily humming a familiar Julie Andrews tune as we browsed through a brilliantly curated selection of our favorite things: old wooden rulers, vintage globes, and cozy arm chairs...

Room Foo DogLamp and cigar boxes

...lamps, cigar boxes, foo dogs and milk bottles...

Room Matador and BottlesRussian Dolls

...Matadors, school house tables, and Russian Dolls! We'll happily make "room" chez nous for any of these items (and, indeed, we did!).

New personalized stationery collection

Eva LongoriaMolly SimsChrysanthemum Custom StationeryEva Custom Stationery Our ears are burning! We just learned that our new personalized stationery collection, which makes its debut this week, already has some celebrity fans: Eva Longoria and Molly Sims! Molly loves the Chrysanthemum design, while Eva's a fan of a design that was inspired by her sophisticated style - we even named it Eva! Shucks, gals, we are so flattered!

Jennifer Behr

Jennifer Behr MarisaJennifer Behr Satin HeadwrapJennifer BehrJennifer BehrJennifer Behr Crystal Twist We caught up with the charming and stunningly talented Jennifer Behr this weekend - she was visiting San Francisco from her native New York for a trunk show at Neiman Marcus. Formerly the lead hair accessories designer at Frederic Fekkai, Ms. Behr launched her own collection in 2005 and has already garnered acclaim from fashionistas around the world (including style icon Natalie Portman). Her designs are perfect for everyday, as well as for weddings and parties - we want to own every piece! Check out her gorgeous collection here.

Lab Partners San Francisco Print

Lab Partners San Francisco Print We had a lovely visit from Sarah Labieniec of Lab Partners yesterday. We had just finished letterpress printing the second edition of their San Francisco print, now available once again at their etsy shop! Once again, we all drooled over their delectable illustration details, including the tiny weather vanes on the tops of the painted ladies. This print is amazing in person! Sarah designed several cards for us last year (including this fabulous birthday card). Read their blog for oodles of ideas and inspiration!

Featured Retailer: Luxe Paperie

Luxe Paperie We've been big fans of Luxe Paperie ever since Mary-Kevin, its lovely and talented founder, launched it a couple of years back. It's our go-to source online for boutique greeting card lines from independent studios - Mary-Kevin always has her eye out for the freshest talent, and is a great friend to the design community. This month, she's featuring our lovely letterpress cards designed by Julia Rothman. Thanks, Mary-Kevin!

Robert Ryan Papercuts & Screenprints

Rob Ryan Bird Lady We're tickled to have just discovered London artist Rob Ryan on Etsy. We must have been asleep at the wheel these last few years to have missed such a remarkable talent. (Imagine us motoring to Las Vegas and somehow managing to miss the Strip despite a thicket of glittering lights, pink flamingos, pirate's canons, wedding chapels, and Arthurian towers - a scene not unlike Mr. Ryan's fairytale-like, intricate creations.) Mr. Ryan's exquisite paper cuts, which he has parlayed into silk screens, tiles and textiles, have been commissioned by Paul Smith and Project Alabama, among others, and and he has decorated the shop windows at Liberty. His artwork can be purchased here.

Vintage Clothing at the Flea

Flea 26Flea 21Flea 27Flea 20 The flea market is vintage fashion maven's paradise (guilty!). Despite having closets bursting with the stuff, Eunice and I once again found ourselves succumbing to the irresistible temptation to try on all things sparkly, mod/polyester, be-feathered, and fur-trimmed. Our mother was a 60's fashion diva (as well as a home ec queen and Avon lady), so the experience is a lot like playing dress-up in her closet!

Our favorite new find is King Vintage, where we found the gorgeous blue fur-trimmed coat above. Next stop: the Vintage Fashion Expo taking place on March 15-16 at the Nob Hill Masonic Center. We'll be there with hats on!

(and hats off to Anna Hurley for catching us in the act!)
