Do you remember this exquisite English countryside wedding of Lisa and Rory? It was recently featured (with a huge spread!) in Harper's Bazaar Arabia Bride with pages full of gorgeous photos, insider information, and all the classic details that made the event so memorable. We had loads of fun working with the charming couple, and are over the moon about the great publicity their wedding has received. Congrats Lisa and Rory!
UK friends! This weekend our fabulous London team will be exhibiting at one of the most unique wedding fairs across the pond, A Most Curious Wedding Fair, billed as the wedding event for the not-so-blushing bride. We always love hearing about this event as it truly does showcase some of the most original and current wedding trends. There is a good reason why the word ‘Chic’ cannot be adequately translated into English; we simply just don’t do it as well as the French! Virgine and Antoine both live in London and wanted to take some of the elements of their life here to their May wedding in Paris, mainly in the form of a black London taxi! We just love the way the photographer has managed to capture the mix of the formal and informal in these stunning photos of the happy couple who seem to have the whole city to themselves!
The reception was a little out of the city at the Manoir de Gressy where the more rural setting provided a beautiful contrast to the city and where Virginie chose an elegant restricted palette of cool greys and silver with just white flowers and green foliage in simple domed bunches. For their stationery they chose to have a customized version of our London Skyline, which we adapted to have the Paris skyline alongside.
We produced the table signs showing either London Tube stations or Paris Metro stops and Virginie also designed a wonderful 32 page booklet herself with graphic images of the two different cultures - The Gherkin vs. Tour Eiffel, Pimms vs. Ricard, Macaron vs. Cupcake etc.!
A customized photo booth with the somewhat Banksy-esque gun-toting Queen along with a host of props allowed the guests to create some memorable photographs of the big day.

We have been asked on several occasions to describe what London has been like over the Olympic period but to be quite honest, for Londoners not attending the events themselves, it has been strangely quiet. Now, in the hiatus between the Olympics and Paralympics, seems a good time to reflect. There has certainly been a good deal of celebrating and decorating going on but very little with direct reference to the games themselves for fear of contravening the rules regarding use of the rings, name, date, venue and so forth. Instead the city has been awash with flags of all nations - best shown in this glorious display down Regents Street in the very centre of town.
Twenty Major statues throughout the capital were also adorned with new headgear including Admiral Nelson on his column in this natty number seen above which was made for him by Lock & Co – the same company that made his real tricorn 200 years ago! (They have been going since 1676!) Smaller shops have dusted off the Union flag bunting from the Jubilee celebrations (in the best spirit of ‘Make do and Mend’) and given us charming window displays such as this one at our friend’s salon ‘The Powder Room.’
There was naturally official Olympic merchandise around and several major British artists designed posters our favourite of which was this stripe design from Pop artist Bridget Riley, but we must confess that the bold graphic simplicity of the 1948 poster is perhaps somewhat more to our tastes.
Despite – or perhaps because of – the organiser’s fierce protection of the brand some people really did go out of their way to make an alternative point… we loved the cheeky shop window of this gent’s outfitters.
We also loved these posters from New North Press are just letterpressed genius! Alas – they are not for sale but they have plenty of others in their online shop and offer hands-on courses in this most wonderful of arts at their studios in Hoxton, North London!

Whilst the downside of our temperate climate here in London is that this summer has, to date, been a complete wash-out, the silver lining is that the flowers have been blooming like never before. This was so wonderfully apparent at the Cheshire wedding of Ellie and Jon in late June where cottage garden favourites like peonies, roses and delphiniums abounded and were so perfectly picked-up in our Nouveau Peonies design that they chose for all their stationery. We love the way that the lace of Ellie’s beautiful dress was echoed in the place cards and how the floral theme was continued to the cake iced simply in white rose motifs.
Even the weather stayed fair!

Check it out! Hello!Lucky's wedding invitations are featured in this month's issue of the UK publication Perfect Wedding!
They put together a great collection of rustic wedding invitations, including our Lavender Harvest suite.
And their romantic wedding roundup features our Shangri-La invitation and rsvp. Oo, la la!
We can think of fewer ways to start a married life together than with the sun shining and the whole city laid out beneath you! These photos taken by Marianne Taylor so beautifully capture the setting for the midsummer wedding of Beth and Julian. 
The venue for the ceremony took place at the upper deck of the National Theatre on the south Bank of the Thames which boasts views of the whole city from East to West across the river. We also agree with Beth's choice of invitation as she opted for our London Skyline design but chose to have it in a soft coral and stone combination which looked beautiful.
After the ceremony the guests were treated to a ride through central London on a vintage Routemaster double-decker bus to the reception at one of Soho's most established and best-loved restaurants, Kettner's in Romily Street.
Here the table stationery carried-on the skyline theme with each table being designated by an iconic London building. We're not sure if being sent to the tower ever held such happy connotations!
We would like to wish Beth and Julian all the very best for their future together; may the city always be theirs!

Now that you've all seen the stunning photos of Lisa and Rory's wedding, we wanted to show you some exclusive behind-the-scenes images of our team putting it all together!
Above is the original proof that we created for Lisa and Rory's reception invitation. The two-sided letterpress invitations were printed on duplex paper (220lb) and hole-drilled for the balloon and ribbon attachments. Because Lisa and Rory already had such brilliant ideas, working with them was a cinch!
Their day-of materials were just as fun to assemble as their wedding invitations. The paddle program fans were die cut on our antique Heidelberg press, then attached one-by-one with wooden handles.
The pub sign table numbers and cheese markers were each cut out by hand, given tremendous care and patience! The tiny cheese markers looked dashing atop their cheese wheel cake. We see a new trend approaching!
Perhaps the most intricate and delicate piece we've created is the tiny silhouette "cake" topper, also cut out of paper by hand. And yes, it fit on a toothpick! It's the little details like this that make us love working on custom weddings.
We couldn't be happier to share the extraordinary wedding of our friends Lisa and Rory. Since we first met the happy couple (what seems like ages ago!) we've been dying to see photos of their big day, and we are not surprised to see how beautifully it came together. Lisa and Rory wed at The Olde Bell in Hurley, England amongst historic timber framed buildings and lush greenery. It was the perfect venue for their rustic, vintage inspired wedding. Their story is featured on Martha Stewart's Brides Guide today (yes, we're jumping with joy!) where you can read more about their ideal I-do's.
It was such a pleasure designing their invitation suite! So much detail and care went into creating the perfect set, and they match perfectly with the scenery. In order to accommodate the space of the venue, the couple sent two sets of invitations, some for both reception and ceremony, and others to just the reception. The ceremony invitations were screen printed on floral handkerchiefs and tied to letterpress printed card stock. The reception invitations were a bit more playful, including a balloon to inflate reading the details of the party! It definitely set the mood for the night, and we love that they incorporated the balloons in their day-of decorations.
Photographer Chloé Browne of Caught the Light Photography did a fantastic job capturing the whimsical spirit of the celebration. With such a beautiful bride and groom, it must have been a piece of cake!
At the reception, the table numbers stood above glowing floral arrangements by Chantal Flores Design. The signs were inspired by British pub names, and each had a unique and rustic illustration to top it off.
Variable printed place cards were looped with ribbon and attached to knick-knacks that match the table theme. The pig made an appearance at the Pig and Whistle Table, and the crown at The Royal Wee. Oh so clever!
Their not-so-traditional wedding cake was made up of different cheese wheels! Who doesn't love cheese and fresh fruit? It was finished with a hand-cut paper cake topper by yours truly!
Each guest received a printed paddle fan with the details of the ceremony. It may not always be warm in England, but luckily the couple ended up with fabulous weather for their day!
Say Fromage supplied a photobooth for the event, and the photos were assembled by guests into a scrapbook. It's such a great way for friends and family to leave notes and memories! The couple also included our chalkboard word bubbles and various props to spruce things up.

For all of our overseas readers, we have some delightful news! Our very own UK General Manager Iain Bartlett has been busy in the magazine world! He was recently quoted in Your London Wedding giving some helpful advice should rain fall on your wedding day. He's always had great ideas for quick fixes! And when you live in an area where the weather does not always cooperate, you must be ready for a plan B!
Iain also wrote a wonderful and creative spread for Cosmopolitan Bride about how to add a crafty detail to any invitation set. We love the idea of including a handmade touch to your invitations, even if it's simply a ribbon or button!

Its no secret how much we love the Alameda Flea Market, but when we saw the photos of Les Puces from Lia's recent trip to Paris - we were très jaloux indeed! An endless maze of vintage clothes, books, housewares and enough retro packaging and ephemera to make your head spin!
There were even a few pieces that looked like they could have held court at Versailles. Move over Marie Antoinette, we may need to borrow your fainting couch. Swoon!

Donna Hay opened a gorgeous new home wares store recently in Woolahra, Sydney, Australia. For those of you not in the know, Donna is an internationally renowned cookbook author, magazine editor and homewares designer.
Emilie Goldstein, the retail manager, shared these lovely pictures of the beautifully styled shop interior.
