Real Wedding: Britt and Blake

This real wedding featured on Style Me Pretty shows a classic side of San Francisco that we simply adore. Dream a Little Dream Events' Britt McNany and her beau Blake met in San Francisco and wed in San Francisco. Their theme was timeless, with dramatic details and bold colors. Plus, both the ceremony and reception took place in iconic buildings that were the perfect destination for their big day. We recreated a custom design to suit her romantic soiree along with some equally gorgeous day-of products.

Tables were each named by the various neighborhoods in our city, to guide guests to their seats. We love how the gorgeous deep red bouquets by Nancy Liu Chin match the cards.

A ceremony in St. Ignatius Church was the only place for these two. It's sweeping archways and rich architecture set the tone for the night ahead.

This room is completely breathtaking. The entire Asian Art Museum is filled with historic and contemporary beauty, but to host a reception here is a true dream.

Custom printed place cards were set to match the table decor, with individual meal choices, too.

Congratulations Britt and Blake! We wish you a lifetime of happiness and a wonderful 2013!

All the Essentials Wedding Planner Book!

When our dear friends at Alison Events asked us to design their most recent wedding planner book All the Essentials we couldn't have said yes any quicker. This talented group of women knows all there is about planning a perfect wedding, and their eye for design is off the charts. Some of our lovely ladies attended the book party and it was a ball, as expected.

The book, filled with prime planner advice, offers check lists, templates, and gift trackers - all to make your wedding day a dream.

We asked Alison herself a few questions about the process and here is what she had to say!

What's the first step for any bride planning a wedding who wants to stay organized?

Getting organized and staying organized is always such a daunting task. We designed this book with that in mind. We modeled it after a binder because that's exactly what we use with our own clients. We make a client blinder that stays with us in the office and we send one to our couples. Month by month we make a "to-do" list with things we are working on and things our couple should be completing in that month. Taking it one step at a time is the only way to go at it and not get completely overwhelmed. It's also super helpful to have one place where you keep everything and can reference that so easy.

What inspired you to create this wedding planner and to share all this helpful info?

We've been lucky enough to be doing what we love for over 12 years now and have learned so much along the way. Trends change, design shifts but the core of planning more or less stays the same.  This planner is set up to guide couples through the process and keep them on track. Everyone will need a place to keep those important contracts, hotel information, menus, registry, and seating charts etc. With this wedding planner, you'll be able to hole punch and put them right in the binder with the added bonus of some advice on how to go about these monumental decisions.

In all your wedding planning experience, what's the most important tip you've learned along the way?

Surround yourself with a solid team. This is true in my business as well as couple's hiring on help. Couple's should be reaching out to vendors that have great reputations and speak to their personal style but they should also be someone you click with and trust. You have to follow your instincts and this will make the process all the easier.

What's your best advice for a bride who is feeling overwhelmed and stressed out while planning?

Hire a planner! The amount of money & stress you will save will be worth it in the end if planning just isn't your thing! Some couples really enjoy the process of finding unique ways to incorporate their story or things they enjoy into their special day, while others might need a little help getting there. Don't let it get to a place where it just isn't fun anymore and you're dreaming of eloping. You can always turn things around by either getting a professional on board or just getting some advice on how to attack intimidating tasks.

The day of the wedding can often be hectic. Do you have advice for a bride and groom for when the big day arrives?

When the big day arrives…it's time to party and celebrate major milestone accomplishments! By that time, the two of you have already made executive decisions together and come out on top. Stay focused on what that day will represent for years, decades to come and enjoy being surrounded by your closest friends, family, and most of all, the person you're meant to spend your life with.

To get your copy of All the Essentials, published by Chronicle Books leave a comment below telling us your best wedding tip or your dream wedding location. We'll pick three winners on Friday, February 22nd.

Real Wedding: Darcy and Kevin

As a boutique and very hands-on wedding vendor, we're always happy to reach out to our brides and grooms around the globe. But when an event takes place right here in the heart of San Francisco, we feel proud to be a part. Darcy and Kevin's glamorous San Francisco wedding covered a lot of ground, from the beautiful Presidio Chapel to the funky Bimbo's 365 Club. The lively couple had a lot of fun with their decor, and they seem to have had a blast on their big day. It was all captured by the talented Andrew Weeks Photography with lovely details by Dream a Little Dream Events.

Of course with a reception venue like Bimbo's, vintage glamour is a must. We created custom stationery of the San Francisco skyline for their paper programs and table numbers.

Michele Papineau's beautiful calligraphy led guests to their tables in style.

The sensational ombre pink wedding cake by Sage Catering was a focal point of the event. We love how it basically glows among the dark and romantic decor.

Congratulations Kevin and Darcy!

Real Wedding: Melissa and Jay

This romantic garden wedding has inspired us in many ways. From the delicate florals and the gorgeous scenery provided by Bear Flag Farm, to the subtle hues of pink and sage, we've found ourselves captivated by every last detail. Melissa and Jay truly executed a marvelous event and we feel fortunate to have been a part of it. Their wedding stationery inspired us to create the Midsummer wedding suite, a simple yet elegant floral design perfect for the modern bride and groom. You can read more about this wedding over at wedding Elizabeth Anne Designs and see more lovely photos by Lisa Lefkowitz.

Pictured here is the original letterpress printed invitation for Melissa and Jay, now called Midsummer. The classic champagne and charcoal ink colors create a for a delicate,  contemporary design.

What a picture perfect day. Complete with olive oil favors and a night of dancing, we'd say this wedding is one to remember. Congratulations Melissa and Jay!

Kendel and Brian's San Francisco Wedding

When we featured Kendel and Brian's wedding earlier this summer we were dying to see more. Their stunning San Francisco event blew us away with outstanding views, impeccable reception decor and modern camp theme. 100 Layer Cake saved the day because their story about Kendel and Brian's wedding brought back all the wonderful memories of the  spectacular wedding.

These close-ups of their custom designed stationery reveal more of the modern details. Kendel and Brian wanted a modern campground look mixed with a little rustic charm, so we printed their invitations on wood veneer and paired them with a papaya striped reply card.

The team at Alison Events truly outdid themselves. This reception tent is breathtaking.

Their wedding suite was so popular we decided to offer it to all our customers. Hearts and Arrows can be customized to match your wedding colors and you can even request personalized place cards like the colorful cards shown above!

And what can we say about the floral arrangements by Brown Paper Design? Those bursting peach and fuchsia peonies scattered along the tables are pure perfection.

Mendocino Boho Wedding Shoot

Did you see this charming boho wedding shoot on Green Wedding Shoes? It was styled by Karin Kamb of Clever Girl Consulting and photographed by none other than Edyta Szyszlo. The sultry green backdrop of the Mendocino Farmhouse paired with the neutral organic elements of the clothing and decor made for a comfortable and romantic setting. The models are local folk singers, too, which made their connection seem so perfect.

Eunice designed a brand new wedding suite for the shoot, appropriately titled Bluegrass. It's still in the works but will be available on our website soon!

Real Wedding: Jessica and Brandon

Sometimes it only takes a glance at a few photos to fall in love with a place all over again. This stunning modern wedding has tradition and class written all over it, and with the help of the talented team at Dream a Little Dream events, it all came together perfectly. Jessica and Brandon shared their love in front of family and friends last May at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. Complete with stoic columns and beautiful sculptures, their wedding day looks like it belongs in a book of art. Who wouldn't want to say their vows among such memorable history?

To keep in theme with their traditional black and white wedding, the couple chose to use our San Francisco Skyline menu cards and place cards with variable printed guest names.

As a fun keepsake, we printed a large scale guest book sign with the San Francisco Skyline for guests to leave notes and well wishes. We're now offering a free folded guest book sign with all of your favorite designs including the San Francisco Skyline. Check it out here!

A big congratulations to Jessica and Brandon! To see more spectacular photos of this event, head over to Dream a Little Dream!

Real Wedding: Jennifer and Rishi

Finding the right words to describe this real wedding is a bit of a challenge because every image takes our breath away. Jennifer and Rishi celebrated their marriage at the stunning Carneros Inn in Napa Valley and truly embraced their cultural heritage with a Hindu/Christian hybrid wedding. Along with their talented event designer Laurel Anderson of Esla Events the couple put together one of the most heartwarming events we've ever seen. The combination of Hindu and Christian traditional garments, the soft blossom and sage color palette, the incredible scenery and delicious local wine and foods make up one spectacular celebration. One that we're sure will inspire many future brides.

We recreated one of our archived designs into a modern invitation that would flatter both the Hindu and Christian ceremonies. The invitations matched the scenery of the location and the gorgeous floral arrangements by Crimson Horticulture Rarities.

Real Wedding: Caroline and Blair

This real wedding is definitely one of our favorites. Once Caroline and Blair decided to tie the knot in wine country, they turned their beautiful Calistoga wedding into a wine lovers paradise. Set with deep red florals and classic decor, the event was truly one to remember. For their save the dates, each guest received a bottle of wine fit with a custom label and a vintage prescription inspired card.

The wedding invitation suite included prohibition-inspired letterpress invites, custom designed match books and place cards, and even a dictionary of wines to prepare all the guests for what Northern California has to offer. So many fabulous keepsakes!

Of course the natural beauty of Calistoga, CA (even in December!) created the perfect backdrop for such an event. Alison Events had their finest ladies work to create the ultimate romantic environment. The photos of their wine cave ceremony completely blew us away!

Caroline and Blair's dream day carried on into the night with a stunning reception, full of fine spirits and dancing. Oh how we love cozy winter weddings!

Real Wedding: Christine and Eugene

The San Francisco ferry building is one of our favorite historical destinations in this city. During the week and weekends the ferry building is bustling with locals and tourists alike, all gallivanting throughout the markets and shops. But when the crowds clear out and an intimate wedding is arranged, it transforms into one of the most beautiful indoor venues we know. Christine and Eugene said their "I do's" last October underneath the shimmering arches of lights, and their photos reveal the quintessential San Francisco we call home.

The couple chose to use our San Francisco Skyline invitation in a beautiful charcoal and curry combination. Plus, the customizable address labels gave guests a sneak peek at the venue.

For their day-of stationery, bright curry colored escort cards guided guests to the most elegant table arrangements...

...and the bright yellow tulips and yellow linens brightened up the dimly-lit room.

Oh, how we adore a classic San Francisco wedding. To view more photos of the event, visit Elizabeth Anne Designs. Congratulations Christine and Eugene!

Real Wedding: Katie & Justin

Think pink! We were thrilled to be part of Katie & Justin's wedding, featured today on Green Wedding Shoes. We had so much fun designing this custom suite, which included a few of our current obsessions - neon and edging. We worked with the couple's navy and fuchsia palate to create a modern yet elegant design (calligraphy by Michele Papineau).

The couple selected the Majestic Halls, located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Built in 1921 as the former Los Angeles Bank of America, the building retains many of its original historic and ornate details. Katie and Justin fell in love with these architectural elements that made the space feel unique to downtown Los Angeles.

Aren't the flowers stunning? Katie and Justin wanted a pink ombre effect and The Little Branch executed their vision perfectly. Each table had various distressed bronze buckets filled with fuchsia, pink or blush flowers. The bride’s bouquet was comprised of a variety of deep pink flowers, including roses, and tied with a navy ribbon.

Katie's dress was Halston Heritage, her shoes were RED Valentino and her stole was vintage, purchased from a local flea market. Justin's suit was from Hugo Boss.

The ring pillow was made by Katie's mom using our how to guide! We love the addition of the pom pom border.

In addition to the invitation suite, we also created matching day of materials: menus, place cards, table numbers and programs.

Congratulations Katie and Justin! To see more of this gorgeous wedding, please click here.

Today's Bride

These photos from Nancy Liu Chin's Anatomy of Today's Bride for Today's Bride SF are to die for! We were approached by Nancy awhile ago in efforts to come up with a classic and whimsical invitation and day-of paper suite for her ultra-sweet photo shoot. It was a piece of cake once she shared her inspiration with us, and knowing which amazing vendors were also on board, we knew it would be a hit.

You can see our working files below. We were really into mismatched patterns and folded cards. If you look closely, the invitation reads Christian & Dior, tres chic!

Martha Stewart Weddings

By now you most likely know about Eunice and Daniel's wedding featured in Martha Stewart Weddings back in 2010. The excitement was radiating around our studio, and we still relish in the memory of such an honor of appearing on the cover. Martha Stewart is one of the most inspiring bridal information destinations [along with endless craft and recipe ideas] so we feel blessed to be a small part of it every now and then. It's such a thrill to see weddings we have worked on appear in the Bride's Guide or even inside the shiny pages of the magazine, and because we love the Martha Stewart collection so much, we wanted to revisit all those moments of pleasure by bringing the real weddings to you.

Eunice and Daniel started the trend by customizing our Woodland Damask wedding invitations (designed by Joel Dewberry).

Recently, Megan and Alex's wedding was featured including one of our newest destination invitations Visit Martha's Vineyard (designed by Lab Partners).

We also created these program fans incorporating an illustrated version of their reception spot The Beach Plum Inn. You can really see the resemblance!

And of course, a New England wedding isn't quite complete without fresh oysters. We love the display atop this rustic mini fishing boat.

Jenny and Ben's fairytale Sonoma wedding was a favorite last year, especially their custom created wedding invitations and programs. Their feature in MSW really highlighted their charming characteristics and artistic creations for the ceremony. We love that they weren't afraid to incorporate bright colors!

We can't forget about Jean and Devin's whimsical wedding. The true inspiration for our Big Day invitation suite, this couple's witty wording set the tone for one lovely [big!] day.

With the help of our friends at Alison Events, lots of crafty details made this intimate barn yard setting pop with color.

The Lab Event - A Success!

We had a blast at The Lab Event last weekend and wanted to share a few pics of the jaw dropping vignettes that filled the barrel room at Cline Cellars.   Guests were able to stroll through these themed areas gathering ideas, inspiration and even some sweet treats like monogrammed cookies and (I-can't-believe-these-are-vegan) cupcakes!

One of our vignettes had a "Toasted Marshmallow" theme with warm brown tones, gold accents and plenty of rustic wood and twig textures.  The menus had a burlap-inspired pattern framing text and a floral sprig and was letterpressed on a recycled cotton card stock.  We're so happy with the way everything turned out, we plan to offer the entire suite on our website soon.  Stay tuned!

How cool is that chandelier?  Its made from branches, Christmas lights and a few Ikea light fixtures... someone please DIY and let us know how it turns out!

Jen Musty from Batter Bakery blew us away with all her delectable desserts like Meyer Lemon shortbread cookies and Key Lime tarts.

The lovely ladies from The Collection Event Studio, styled a fantastic booth full of vintage flair and wedding inspiration galore!

The best part of the project was meeting so many amazing and talented vendors that we can't wait to work with again!

Real Wedding: Lisa and Rory

Lisa and Rory Wedding - 3

We couldn't be happier to share the extraordinary wedding of our friends Lisa and Rory. Since we first met the happy couple (what seems like ages ago!) we've been dying to see photos of their big day, and we are not surprised to see how beautifully it came together. Lisa and Rory wed at The Olde Bell in Hurley, England amongst historic timber framed buildings and lush greenery. It was the perfect venue for their rustic, vintage inspired wedding. Their story is featured on Martha Stewart's Brides Guide today (yes, we're jumping with joy!) where you can read more about their ideal I-do's.

Lisa and Rory Wedding - 1

Lisa and Rory Wedding - 11

It was such a pleasure designing their invitation suite! So much detail and care went into creating the perfect set, and they match perfectly with the scenery. In order to accommodate the space of the venue, the couple sent two sets of invitations, some for both reception and ceremony, and others to just the reception. The ceremony invitations were screen printed on floral handkerchiefs and tied to letterpress printed card stock. The reception invitations were a bit more playful, including a balloon to inflate reading the details of the party! It definitely set the mood for the night, and we love that they incorporated the balloons in their day-of decorations.

Lisa and Rory Wedding - 2

Photographer Chloé Browne of Caught the Light Photography did a fantastic job capturing the whimsical spirit of the celebration. With such a beautiful bride and groom, it must have been a piece of cake!

Lisa and Rory Wedding - 4

Lisa and Rory Wedding - 5 At the reception, the table numbers stood above glowing floral arrangements by Chantal Flores Design. The signs were inspired by British pub names, and each had a unique and rustic illustration to top it off.

Lisa and Rory Wedding - 7

Variable printed place cards were looped with ribbon and attached to knick-knacks that match the table theme. The pig made an appearance at the Pig and Whistle Table, and the crown at The Royal Wee. Oh so clever!

Lisa and Rory Wedding - 6

Their not-so-traditional wedding cake was made up of different cheese wheels! Who doesn't love cheese and fresh fruit? It was finished with a hand-cut paper cake topper by yours truly!

Each guest received a printed paddle fan with the details of the ceremony. It may not always be warm in England, but luckily the couple ended up with fabulous weather for their day!

Say Fromage supplied a photobooth for the event, and the photos were assembled by guests into a scrapbook. It's such a great way for friends and family to leave notes and memories! The couple also included our chalkboard word bubbles and various props to spruce things up.

Real Wedding: Jamie and Justin in Mexico!

jj_blog_018

Although we've had a streak of decent summer weather in San Francisco this week, we wouldn't say that our city is a warm destination, by any means. You might find an ocean breeze and sandy beaches, but nothing like this Mexican gem. Jamie and Justin decided that they would travel far and wide to find their perfect wedding destination spot. And boy, from the looks of these photos they hit the bulls eye!

jj_blog_021

jj_blog_026

jj_blog_017

The couple chose Le Reve Hotel and Spa in Playa del Carmen (just south of Cancun) to hold the special event. Equipped with a perfect beach, delightful cabanas and a relaxing hammock, what else do you need? Well, a few of their closest friends and family and a deluxe reception wouldn't hurt :-)

jj_blog_035

Hello!Lucky designed and printed these Mexi-style details cards and place cards to match the green theme of the setting. The place cards were wrapped around individually sized bottles of hot sauce as a favor, as if the summer sun wasn't hot enough!

jj_blog_036

Our dear friends over at Alison Events helped make this dream wedding come alive. They sure know how to put the perfect touches on such a fun event!

jj_blog_038

There is no doubt we will be visiting Le Reve for some R&R some day in the future. Congratulations to Jamie and Justin!
