Alameda Flea Market

We are flea fanatics so finding our way to Alameda the first Sunday of the month is a must. Amongst this outdoor treasure trove is everything from antique furniture to clothing and accessories. It's the perfect pastime for vintage seekers and it's family friendly. The market is spread out on the Alameda waterfront overlooking San Francisco. There's a lot to see so make it a day trip and bring an appetite, it's chock-full of gourmet food trucks offering up every cuisine imaginable & kettle corn carts you can't avoid because it's aroma is undeniable. The next one falls on July 6th so be sure to mark your calendars!

Here are a few of our favorite finds from yesterday's excursion.

Alameda Flea Market

The Alameda Flea Market was back yesterday, and I think we all felt like the shopper pictured here: on high from all the fabulous treasures we discovered!

These vintage fruit crates would be great at a rustic fall wedding -- for holding programs, a photo booth backdrop, to serve cold drinks, or just stacked for ambiance!

We noticed some gorgeous vintage jewelry this time, and even spotted some people shopping for wedding rings -- so sweet!

Fancy bling was everywhere...

These vintage collectible cars rev'ed us up!

And we're nuts about this squirrel rocking his fluffy ears. (The Flea is always a great source of vintage illustration inspiration!)

Adorable hummingbirds with 40s flair.

Some lovely boho quilts made with recycled Indian fabrics

Bye, Flea!  We'll see you next month!

Lucky Friday # 80, Chairs

Hello all you lucky folks out there! This is the 80th edition of our Lucky Friday Giveaway.  Each Friday we feature one of our letterpress greeting cards. We’ll choose THREE LUCKY WINNERS to get a free card.  Post a comment by 12 p.m. PST the following Thursday, and we’ll announce the winners on the following Friday!

The winners from last week are (drum roll, please): Frances, Jana and Chris! We’ll contact you next week to arrange sending your Sporty Birthday card.

Design: Chairs Artist: Julia Rothman Inspiration:  We took a load off, set a spell, and we fancied we'd honor the humble foundations of our inspirations. Who to send it to: Anyone named Anne, Louis, Chip, Dale, Chaise or.... Cherry. (?!) Or any antiques aficionado. Ideas we scrapped in favor of this one: The "Go for Baroque" pun fell flat on all but a few and the "Rockin' the Rococo" rocking chair card was... actually, we might re-consider. Favorite detail: Just can't decide which chair we'd most like to have and never sit in. Why letterpress? Antique chairs, antique presses— wethinks we see a pattern emerging!

Don’t forget to post your comment and tune in next week, same time, different stationery, to see if you’ve won!

Eunice found some lovely pendant lamps for her apartment, and I found a fabulous 4 ft by 6 ft vintage mirror. We love all of the light fixtures, tiles, and hardware at Ohmega. This is what Restoration Hardware was meant to be!
