Visit to Kansas City!

Letterpress lovers take note! Recently, one of our intrepid employees took a trip to Hammerpress in Kansas City, Missouri and came back with some great photos of their lovely studio!

Check out their very organized shelves of metal and wood type, as well as the impeccably well kept presses.

In their impressive brick and mortar storefront, they sell greeting cards, posters and lots of one-of-a-kind goods.

Bob the Musical

We just completed a series of posters for a fantastic 50th birthday party! The amazingly creative organizers produced an entire musical revue all about Bob, the birthday boy. Apparently, the whole thing was a total hoot!

Fork & Spoon Productions, the event designers, asked us to design 8 ft x 10 ft posters that incorporate a few of Bob's black and white childhood photos. We edited the photos and designed the posters to look like vintage movie or musical broadsides, and gave each one a show-stopping title. This one's based on a B-movie poster (obviously!).

This one's loosely inspired by the classic Lassie movie poster (the bunny's name really is Floppy!).

Inspired by Tommy (The Who's classic rock musical).

For this one, we were thinking Bull Durham, For the Love of the Game, etc. The posters were hung around the party tent, and we also designed a classic style playbill for guests. So much fun!

Paul Thurlby's Alphabet Shop

  We came across London-based illustrator Paul Thurlby's alphabet prints on Ohdeedoh and were totally smitten by the hilarious illustrations...

Thurlby has a whole alphabet done in super cool retro kitsch style - love the vintagey beat up treatment!

Thurlby is offering his 12" x 19" alphabet giclee prints in limited editions of 200 prints of each design.

Pretty Pictures

Silk-screened concert posters are a truly fabulous and inexpensive décor option and Poster Cabaret has a great selection from some of our favorite artists and designers for some of our favorite bands. 

They also have some great prints by artists such as Bianca Gomez...

Love this bull with his wooden features and curtain-bangs...

The Decemberists can always be counted on to have gorgeous posters...

We love all the different, totally cool design aesthetics...so inspiring! (not to mention that these gorgeous hand-silkscreened posters will only set you back $20-$30!) Love, love, love them!

The best of New York gift, part 2

Although we are slightly obsessive about all things vintage, we also have a strong affection for modern design. Especially modern design from Publique Living, a local San Francisco studio. Although everything that Publique Living creates is truly well designed and beautifully crafted, some of our favorite pieces include these limited edition posters, which feature a typeset airport code over a graphic interpretation of a landmark of that particular city:

They also produce stunning gift wrap, as well as luxurious alpaca throws, which we are coveting something fierce!

But our all time favorite item are the laser cut placements - don't they just make you want to have a dinner party tonight?!
