Chloé Fleury Studio Visit

Last Friday a few of us were lucky enough to visit Chloé Fleury in her studio in San Francisco's Mission District. Chloé's studio is in her apartment and we found inspiration in every corner of her home. Her space was full of light, colorful, and modern. We could have stayed there for hours and all left feeling inspired to go home and work on art projects.

(everything in this photo except the bear mask is made from paper)

If you aren't already familiar with Chloé's work this will be a fun look into her world. She creates amazing sculptures and illustrations with paper and it was so much fun to see her work scattered throughout her home. We snapped quite a few photos so you can see the loveliness yourself. Enjoy!

Chloé moved to San Francisco from France and told us she didn't start making her paper sculptures until she arrived here four years ago. One of her main inspirations? San Francisco's color and architecture. This piece is from her first show which was at the (recently closed) Curiosity Shoppe.

Thank you so much for letting us visit your studio & your home Chloé! We're still feeling inspired from the visit.

Inspired by Chloe Fleury

As artisan printers and paper enthusiasts we feel an instant connection with artists who share similar interests. The incredibly talented paper aficionado Chloe Fleury has literally blown us away with her paper constructions. Recently featured in Anthology Magazine, the French born and now San Francisco based artist creates one of a kind paper sculptures. If you haven't visited her website by now, you must.

She even created a stop animation video trailer for issue no. 6, highlighting up-close details about each paper piece. Check it out here.

Her San Francisco neighborhood posters are definitely a favorite.

La Boutique in San Francisco is hosting a solo exhibition of Chloe's work! If your're in SF be sure to stop by the gallery and check it out, it's located at 414 Jackson Street, Suite 101.

King Kong "Suede"

King Kong revisted We're still catching our breath from a fabulous week away at the National Stationery Show, so our blog has been neglected - mea culpa! We'll be posting some of our highlights soon, but in the meantime check out Grace's wonderful four-part coverage on Design*Sponge.

And in the meantime, a tidbit of creative inspiration/comic relief from talented French graphic designer Chloe Fleury, who recently sent us a lovely note - on her blog, we discovered this brilliant short film, an homage to King Kong, for which she recently won 1st prize in a competition judged by Be Kind, Rewind director Michel Gondry. Click here to see it on YouTube. We love using wit/humor into our own design work, so to us, this is just genius!
